Phil Beck began his career as an
illustrator in Chicago, where he had studied at the American Academy
of Fine Art as well as with Bettina Steinke and Harley Brown.
Phil moved to Scottsdale in 1980,
seeking a warmer climate and turned his passion to painting. He
is a portrait, figure and animal painter, known for his colorful,
painterly style, a combination of realism and impressionism. His
work is represented in many Western galleries and private collections.
Phil Beck won the 2002 Best of Show and
gold medal in oil for his painting Denizens of the Canyon, during
the Western Artists of America Branding Iron Show in Tucson, Arizona.
