Bruce
Graham is a Wyoming artist known for his ability to capture dramatic
light and color in his western oil paintings. Trained as an
illustrator at Utah State University, he began his full-time career as
a western artist in 1991.
Graham was born in 1961 in New York City and spent his early childhood
in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, where he was the only child on the
beach wearing cowboy boots. Graham, whose grandfather had owned
the Two Dot Ranch, near Cody, Wyoming, had an early connection to
cowboys and western art. Surrounded by stories of cowboy life
and fascinated by his grandfather's collection of fine western
paintings, including pieces by Russell, Bierstadt and Moran, Bruce was
determined to make a life for himself which included both art and the
western lifestyle.
Bruce Graham's artwork hangs in the permanent collection of the
Whitney Gallery of Western Art in Cody, Wyoming. He has
participated in numerous art shows, including The American Quarter
Horse Museum Art Show, Settlers West Miniature Shows,
Phippen Museum Western Art Show, Mountain Oyster Club
Show, and Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show. In
addition to receiving the 2007 William E. Weiss Purchase Award
at the Buffalo Bill Art show in Cody, Wyoming, he has also been
awarded the 2004 Artist's Choice Award, as well as the
1995 People's Choice Award at the same show.
Graham's studio is located in buffalo, Wyoming at the foot of the
bighorn Mountains. He uses his cowboy friends and neighbors as
models, and his own horses appear in many of his paintings. |
