Robert Harper

Robert HarperRobert Harper was born and raised in the Rocky Mountain area. His deep love and appreciation for the region is very evident in the scenes he so beautifully captures on canvas.  During his teen years, Robert saw a painting by the legendary Conrad Schwiering, and it inspired him to paint the landscapes of the Rockies.  Schwiering's work birthed a desire in Robert to capture the beauty around him.

Robert’s journey to improve his talent has included studying art at three different colleges. Wanting more than the classroom could offer, however, Robert moved his studies outdoors.  Robert's field studies have taken him throughout the western states, to Hawaii, Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia.  Robert’s work has found its way into many homes and offices of people who love the scenes that he captures on canvas. His work has also caught the eye of several collectors who proudly hang his work alongside some of the very artists Robert once studied.  In 2007, one of Robert's pieces from Amy Grant's and Vince Gill's personal collection was featured as the backdrop for the set of Amy Grant's "Time Again" concert and DVD.

Robert and his wife Crystal live in the colorful western slope of Colorado.  He still spends time painting outdoors, and after all these years, Robert's greatest work still reflects what he knows best; the rugged mountains of Wyoming and the pasturelands of Montana - the quiet places of his boyhood home.
