" The American West is both real
and mythic history. It’s really a very small slice of time…bounded on
one end by the arrival of the horse (brought by the Spaniards) and the
arrival of the automobile. Yet it has extraordinary power over us.
I have the chance to portray the peoples and their cultures set
against backgrounds of astonishing and unforgiving beauty. I truly
love making these paintings." |
