Growing up in the rough
neighborhoods of San Francisco and East Los Angeles never exposed
Richard Stewart too much art, however, a move later in life to New
Orleans change all that. Living in New Orleans allowed Richard Stewart
to experience an artist working in person. Richard was fascinated by
how they took a white surface and turned it into something beautiful.
He loved it so much that he took a job in the French Quarter managing
a small art gallery.
Little did he know then that creating art would
become a lifelong mission. In 2008 Richard met famed artist Clyde Aspevig. Under Aspevig’s tutelage Richard exclaims, "art has become my
life and I thank Clyde for that." Richard has experimented with
several genres such as throwing pottery, creating poetry and finally,
his true love, painting with oils and watercolors. Richard uses
representational painting techniques with natural colors and values to
depict landscapes, still life, portraits, and wildlife . |
