Donny Finley

Donny Finley grew up in the small rural community of Millerville, Alabama miles from other children his age.  His heroes were the 1950's cowboys he saw on TV, which included Roy Rogers, John Wayne and others.  He learned to draw and paint by sketching what he saw in the Sears catalog.  After 40 years of painting Donny is rediscovering his love of the West.  He first became known for his watercolors:  however years of trial and error have made him proficient in the mediums of oil, acrylic and egg tempera.  Finley's paintings have been in national juried exhibitions including the Amercian Watercolor Societ.  Some of the more than 70 awards he has won are from the National Academy of Design in New York,  National Watercolor Society in California and the Salmagundi Club in New York.  The Birmingham Museum of Art, The Fine Arts Museum of the South and Coca Cola Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia are a few collectors of his paintings.  Donny's work has been featured in American Art Magazine, Alabama Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine and others.
